Dubai’s iconic Burj Al Arab hotel caught fire after an Iranian drone strike triggered a US-Israeli attack.A drone was intercepted and debris caused a “small fire” on the Burj Al Arab facade, according to the Dubai Media Office.Dubai Media Office wrote on“Civil Defense teams responded immediately and brought the incident under control. No casualties have been reported,” the statement added.Locals posted videos claiming Burj Al Arab Jumeirah was attacked.“In an escalating retaliation, Iranian Shahed drone strikes Dubai’s Burj Al Arab, reports and viral video show an Iranian drone, possibly a Shahed-type kamikaze drone, directly attacking the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai, UAE,” one person noted on the X (formerly Twitter) platform.Another person tweeted: “It appears the world-famous Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai was attacked by an Iranian drone.”The 60-story Burj Al Arab luxury hotel sits on an artificial island off the coast of Dubai, not far from the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.Dubai International Airport suffered damage on Saturday, with four people reportedly injured at the scene.The Dubai Media Office confirmed on X day: “Dubai Airports confirms that a concourse at Dubai International Airport (DXB) suffered minor damage in an incident, but it was quickly brought under control. Emergency response teams were immediately deployed and are coordinating with the relevant authorities to handle the situation.”“Four staff members were injured and received prompt medical attention. Most of the terminals were previously empty of passengers as contingency plans were in place. Further updates will be provided as they become available,” it added.Late on Saturday, UAE residents were asked to seek asylum immediately. “Seek shelter immediately in the nearest secure building, away from doors, windows and open areas. Await further instructions,” one message read. It said this was “due to the current situation and potential missile threat.”
