At least 16 people were injured, five of them seriously, when a car crashed into participants during a parade in New Iberia, Louisiana.
The incident occurred during a public march in Iberia Parish, where crowds gathered along the route, WBRZ reported. According to deputies, the incident occurred at the intersection of Savannakhet Street and Melancon Road.
Fox News 15 reports that the driver is currently in custody by the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office (IPSO).
IPSO said that based on preliminary investigations, this did not appear to be a deliberate act.
