According to “Geo News” citing sources, Naqvi has set off for Tehran to discuss US-Iran peace talks with Iranian leaders.

“His departure comes as Islamabad continues to lead mediation efforts between Washington and Tehran,” according to the report.

Iranian state media also reported Naqvi’s visit to Tehran.

Iran’s state-run News TV posted on social media that “Pakistan’s interior minister arrived in the capital Tehran and Islamabad is working hard to mediate negotiations between Iran and the United States.”

Separately, Iran’s state-run Islamabad News Agency also quoted diplomatic sources in Islamabad as saying that Naqvi had traveled to Tehran to hold talks with Iranian officials.

There was no reaction from Pakistan, which has often remained silent on diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran.

Naqvi was reportedly visiting Iran for the second time in less than a week and was sending mixed signals from Tehran and Washington.

During his last visit, Naqvi met over the weekend with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Interior Minister Eskandar Momenei.

On Tuesday, Trump set a deadline of resuming strikes within days if a deal is not reached. A day earlier he had said that Gulf Arab leaders asked him to postpone an 11th hour attack.

On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi warned that “the return to war will bring more surprises.”

Separately, the Revolutionary Guards warned that any further attacks on Iran would “lead to a conflict well beyond the borders of West Asia.”

At the same time, US Vice President Vance talked about the progress of negotiations with Iran. “We’re in a very good place right now,” Vance told a White House press briefing.

Naqvi’s visit to Tehran is significant given his close relationship with Army Chief of Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.

Naqvi was part of a delegation led by Munir that visited Tehran last month, with negotiations between Iran and the United States the main focus of the trip.
