Lucknow: uttar pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath The ‘Jan Aakrosh Mahila Padyatra’ was held on Tuesday after the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill failed to be passed in the Lok Sabha during the special session.The chief minister took out a walking march to protest against the failure of the Women’s Reservation Bill as the opposition parties in the Lok Sabha voted against the bill on April 17.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is organizing a ‘Jan Akrosh rally’ (public outrage rally) in which Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary, two deputy chief ministers and a large number of women will be present.The rally proceeded from the Chief Minister’s residence to the Legislative Assembly. A large number of women took part in the foot march. Women ministers of the state government also participated in the march. Through the walking march, the Chief Minister raised issues with the opposition.In addition, heavy troops were deployed at various points along the foot march.Speaking here, Uttar Pradesh Minister Ashish Patel said the opposition has an undisclosed agenda against women that women in the country should not get their rights.“When this (Nari Shakti Vandan Act) was implemented in 2023 and all parties came together to implement it, there was no controversy, but when the bill came to ground, the opposition parties blocked it. This is their undisclosed agenda against women that women in the country should not get their rights… We support the Nari Shakti Vandan Act in 2023 and beyond, regarding the amendments to the bill, as long as the interests of women are protected, we will work on it...” Patel added.Deputy Minister Brajesh Pathak said: “Women are coming out of their homes in large numbers to express their dissatisfaction. The way the opposition has blocked the women’s reservation bill is deeply saddening. Women are deeply angry about this. The Samajwadi Party and the Congress will surely pay the price in the coming elections…”Reacting to UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s ‘Jan Aakrosh Mahila Padyatra’, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal said the Prime Minister gave women their due share and the opposition was even against this.“Women have been demanding their share for centuries and the opposition would even object if the Prime Minister gave us our share… Domestically, the responsibility lies with the ruling party and the opposition, both parties should move forward in the national interest…The intentions of the opposition are wrong…” she added.On April 17, the opposition parties in the Lok Sabha voted against the constitutional amendment.The bill was discussed by several leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a three-day special session from April 16 to 18. Several opposition leaders, including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and Congress leader KC Venugopal also participated in the discussion.The 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill to implement women’s reservation failed to pass in the Lok Sabha as the Indian bloc refused to vote in favor of the delimitation process.The Lok Sabha reviewed and passed the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, the Delimitation Bill and the Federal Territory Laws (Amendment) Bill. After the debate on the three bills, differences emerged over the constitutional amendment, with 298 people voting in favor and 230 against.With the constitutional amendment defeated, the government later said it did not want to pursue two other related bills because they were interrelated.
