Indian man claims Canadian woman told him to ‘go back’, she denies racism accusations

He added, “This is not something that happens every day but please make sure when it does you speak out and fight back because racism has no place and is never welcome! I hope this video gets out to people in Kentville so she is embarrassed wherever she goes because that’s definitely not how people have been since I’ve been working in town.”

The video he shared shows a woman screaming at Singh in a car, and his response. The video has now gone viral, with over 20 million views.

Sharing another video of his on Instagram, he wrote, “Backstory to this incident. Whatever happened, the very fact that someone made a comment like ‘go back to India’ speaks volumes about their character and it’s irrefutable!”

In the video, he goes on to say that he was driving when the woman pulled up next to him and began insulting him. He claimed she changed her attitude when he confronted her and started recording.

Singh noted that the Indian diaspora in Canada is often afraid to stand up to those who are racist. He urged these people to speak out, explaining that if they don’t then racists will continue to abuse others.

One person posted, “I wish I had the courage to speak up like you. In many ways I suffer in silence but I’m going to speak up. I’m so glad I came across this. My workplace really needs this now. If not now, then when?”

Another commented: “You did the right thing… we should stand up for ourselves first and speak out if someone disrespects us.” A third said: “Well you defended yourself. No room for racism.”

However, some people questioned Singer. One person wrote: “Whatever happened, maybe you should explain what the hell is going on here! From what I and many others have witnessed, you clearly can’t drive, nor should you be allowed to be behind any vehicle, and you almost hit this woman. This also shows another perspective of those who had dash cams in the area.”
