The announcement, made under the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reinforces the country’s long-term vision to empower Emirati talent and enhance job security.The updated plan introduces a wide range of financial and social support measures; the most significant change is the removal of the cap on child benefits. One of the most significant changes following the revision is that the scheme continues to provide a monthly salary supplement of up to Dh7,000 depending on eligibility and income level, in addition to pension contributions and unemployment support.Officials said the reforms are intended to better reflect the actual needs of households while making private sector careers more economically viable for Emiratis. The removal of restrictions on child support, coupled with the expansion of family-focused incentives, is expected to particularly benefit large families and improve long-term financial security, while encouraging more citizens to enter and stay in the private sector.

Empowering Emirati women

The government is making it easier for every member of the family to contribute to the country’s economy. The new update introduces a targeted salary support scheme specifically for children of Emirati mothers working in the private sector.Additionally, a new support program has been launched for wives of UAE citizens working in the private sector. By expanding the safety net, the Emirates Talent Competitiveness Council (ETCC) aims to create a “vibrant and stable work environment” that protects family incomes while encouraging more nationals to move from public employment to the private sector.

How does the Nafis program work?

Nafis’ expansion plays a central role in the UAE’s broader Emiratization strategy, which aims to increase national participation in private sector employment. At the high-level meeting of the Emirates Talent Competitiveness Council in Qasr Al Watan, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan highlighted the significant progress of the Nafis program and revealed that the program has exceeded its initial employment targets. Since its launch in 2021, more than 176,000 Emiratis have entered the private sector, marking a major shift in the country’s workforce landscape. Currently, some 152,000 citizens in nearly 32,000 companies actively benefit from Nafis, reflecting the program’s broad reach.The program also supports the UAE’s economic diversification goals by encouraging nationals to contribute to key industries outside the public sector.
