The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) has partnered with 42 Abu Dhabi to launch a dedicated artificial intelligence hackathon aimed at creating technology-driven solutions to improve government services in key sectors.The program will bring together programmers, developers, entrepreneurs and young innovators to design AI-powered tools to streamline processes and make energy, infrastructure, transport and housing services more efficient.Organizers said participants will work to find practical solutions to real-world challenges facing the ministry, focusing on projects that can improve service delivery, enhance infrastructure sustainability and enhance the quality of life across the UAE.The hackathon is part of the ministry’s wider strategy to expand the use of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies in government operations while supporting the country’s digital transformation goals.Contestants will compete in a collaborative environment under the guidance of industry experts as well as experts from MoEI and 42 Abu Dhabi. Prizes and incentives will be awarded to winning teams and outstanding projects, designed to help transform promising ideas into practical solutions.Eng Fahad Al Hammadi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Support Services Sector at the Ministry of Economy, said the initiative reflects the UAE’s commitment to building a government system driven by innovation and emerging technologies.“The AI ​​Hackathon represents a practical platform to translate the UAE’s vision of building a government ecosystem driven by innovation and advanced technology,” he said.Al Hammadi added that the program aims to harness local talent and encourage the development of smart solutions to strengthen public services while improving future readiness across multiple sectors.Fatima Foulathi, acting CEO of 42 Abu Dhabi, said the event will provide participants with the opportunity to transform ideas into working prototypes that can address real-world challenges.She said the hackathon also supports developing a new generation of programmers and innovators who can apply artificial intelligence technology to various industries, while cementing the UAE’s position as a leader in digital innovation.According to organizers, the program aims to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence in government services and support the UAE’s broader ambition to stay at the forefront of technological advancement and digital transformation.
