‘Where do you think I’m from?’ Indian man hits back at racist bullying in Canada, says everyone should talk back

Lovepreet Singh, an Indian-origin man, posted a video of how a Canadian woman asked him to “go back to India”.

A video of an Indian man in Nova Scotia, Canada, violently resisting a racist attack by a woman has gone viral. The woman driving the car asked the man who recorded the video to return home. The man flatly rejected the woman and said: “Your face says you are a racist. Your face says it all.”“If you don’t like it, go back.” The woman said.“Going back to where?” the man retorted. The woman said, “No matter where you come from.”“Where do you think I come from?” the man said.“Get out of my car,” the woman screamed.“You may be unemployed, but I have a job,” the man screamed in response, calling the woman a “f***ing piece of shit” and a “f***ing Karen.”Lovepreet Singh, an Indian man, later posted the video on his Instagram and said the incident happened in the small town of Kentville, Nova Scotia, where he works. Lovepreet wrote: “It only took so little to ruin my day. Before I could pull out my phone she had said ‘go back to India’ which she later changed to ‘give it to your mom’. It’s not something that happens every day but when you find yourself in this situation always shout back Hit me because racism has no place and is never welcome! I hope this video gets out to people in Kentville so she will be embarrassed wherever she goes because she has been embarrassed since my days in town. Lovepreet wrote. As the video went viral, social media users commented that Lovepreet was clearly not illegal or criminal, but he still faced such racist attacks.“He’s not illegal, he’s not a criminal, he pays his taxes, he contributes to his local community and is a law-abiding citizen. What does he get in return? Disturbances to his peace of mind? Harassment? Racism?” one commented. Many people are supporting the woman and say it’s not clear from the viral video what prompted the woman to attack Lovepreet, and some background information may be missing.
