New Delhi: Special Cell delhi police Two persons suspected of being linked to Pakistani gangster and ISI agent Shahzad Bhatti have been arrested. Officials said on Tuesday that the module was planning shooting incidents, grenade blasts and targeted assassinations in the Delhi-National Capital Region area.On March 31, police acted on intelligence and opened a case after there were signs of a conspiracy to carry out grenade explosions and planned killings in the area.“Their arrest foiled attacks planned in the national capital and adjoining areas,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Praveen Kumar Tripathi said in a statement. “The arrests expose a larger conspiracy orchestrated by Bhatti, along with others linked to the ISI, to recruit youths through social media platforms and deploy them to commit targeted violence in the National Capital Region of Delhi.”The accused, Rajveer (21) and Vivek Banjara (19), residents of Gwalior city in Madhya Pradesh, were detained in a coordinated operation of the special cell.Vivek Banjara was initially arrested on April 16 from Dabra in Gwalior. During interrogation, he revealed information about Rajveer, which led to the police’s arrest of Rajveer on April 18 in Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan area.Investigators said that at the time of his arrest, Rajvir was planning an attack on a well-known hotel in the National Capital District of Delhi on the instructions of his boss Shahzad Bhatti. Police recovered a pistol and six rounds of live ammunition from his possession. Two mobile phones containing videos and recordings related to the plot were also seized.Officials said Rajveer entered Bhatti’s network through social media and operated under an agent named ‘Rana Bhai’. “He is alleged to have played a central role in coordinating operations, collecting weapons and carrying out planned attacks,” the officer said.Vivek Banjara allegedly joined the organization through Rajveer and was assigned support roles such as logistics and surveillance.According to police, the two young men were recruited gradually, lured by the lure of quick financial gain.On April 9, the two accused went to Amritsar where they allegedly received a pistol, around 15-20 rounds of ammunition and Rs 20,000. They were assigned to target a club in Zirakpur, Punjab, which had reportedly received extortion threats from Bhatti.“On April 11, Rajveer allegedly attempted to fire but failed due to mechanical issues with the weapon. Vivek recorded a video of the incident and sent it to their superiors. Police said Rajveer later concealed the weapon while returning to Delhi and shared its location with Bharti.”Police further said that Rajveer later visited Punjab again and collected another firearm and ammunition before returning to the Delhi-NCR area. Investigations into the wider network continue.
