U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that talks with Iran were proceeding “rapidly” even as new fighting tested the fragile cease-fire between the two sides.“Negotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran are proceeding rapidly,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.After weeks of clashes, a ceasefire agreed nearly two months ago has come under renewed pressure as U.S. and Iranian forces clashed over the weekend into Monday. The latest attacks have raised concerns that the ceasefire could unravel and undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts.Trump also said he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and representatives of Hezbollah amid rising tensions in Lebanon.“I had a very productive phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu and there will be no troops heading to Beirut and any troops that are en route have been sent back,” he wrote.Trump added that Hezbollah had agreed to cease attacks on Israel. “They agreed that all shooting would stop – Israel would not attack them and they would not attack Israel,” he said.Earlier, Trump told NBC News that Washington had not been formally informed of Iran’s decision to suspend negotiations.“I think it would be nice if they ended the conversation,” he said, adding that Tehran had not formally communicated such a decision to the United States.“But they didn’t notify us of that. That doesn’t mean we’re going to start dropping bombs out there,” Trump said.These developments come as Israel continues its military campaign in Lebanon. Over the weekend, Israeli forces launched their deepest incursion into the country in 26 years. Netanyahu ordered an attack on Hezbollah-controlled southern Beirut suburbs on Monday, marking a further escalation in the conflict.Shortly after the attacks, Trump spoke by phone with Netanyahu.Iran, meanwhile, said it had stopped exchanging information with Washington through mediators following the attacks in Lebanon.Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on the 10th, “The ceasefire between Iran and the United States is undoubtedly a ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon. Its violation on one front is a violation of the ceasefire on all fronts. The United States and Israel should be responsible for the consequences of any violation.”
