Trump claimed that the U.S. economy had seen “incredible growth” during his first 16 months in office, pointing to a record stock market and Section 401, military victories, a return to economic strength and what he called a booming job market.
Trump also touted military victories and burgeoning relations with Venezuela, as well as the “military destruction” of Iran.
“President Xi is not referring to the incredible rise that the United States has shown the world during the 16 months of the Trump administration,” he said.
“Two years ago, we were actually a declining country. I totally agree with President Xi on that!” Trump added, “But now, the United States is the hottest country in the world, and hopefully our relationship with China will be stronger and better than ever!”
Trump also cited the trillions of dollars of foreign investment flowing into the United States, praised the administration’s rollback of diversity, equity and inclusion programs, and claimed President Xi congratulated him on what he called the administration’s “tremendous success” in a short period of time.
