A shooting was reported at the Triangle Town Center Mall, located at 5959 Triangle Town Boulevard in Raleigh. North Carolina Wednesday. WRAL shared video of the news report shooting.
The reporter noticed that Raleigh Police responded to the scene along the boulevard. The incident appears to have occurred in the mall’s parking lot, as the area was cordoned off with crime scene tape. The report added that they could see fourteen evidence markers placed in the area.
The Raleigh Police Department has not officially commented on the shooting. There is no information yet on what led to the shooting. At this time, there is no information on injuries or suspect details.

News of the shooting prompted reactions from locals, with one expressing regret over the security situation. They shared an “I voted for this” photo, taking a stance against gun violence. Local reports indicate that the North Raleigh mall has already lost Sears and is about to lose Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue. However, the Herald Sun reports the site still has commercial prospects.
Stores around the mall, such as DSW, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Nordstrom Rack, did not see a drop in customers, despite a decrease in traffic at the mall. A professor at the University of North Carolina at Kenan-Flagler weighed in on the matter, explain “I hope it’s either more of a hybrid open-air retail center or converted to mixed use.”
The mall also suffered a series of safety incidents, leading to tenants evacuating. They include a 2008 gang fight in which a 15-year-old was stabbed, and an accidental shooting in 2022 that left a 21-year-old dead in a parking lot. The recent shooting in Triangle Town Center also had some people exclaiming “ouch” when they heard the news.
