A training aircraft of Red Bird Airlines crashed near Baramati Airport in Pune district on Tuesday morning and reportedly suffered a technical glitch while flying at low altitude, police said. Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill said the incident took place at around 8.50 am near Gojubavi village near the airport.“At around 8:50 this morning, a training aircraft of Red Bird Airlines made an emergency landing near Gojubavi village near Baramati Airport. According to preliminary information provided by witnesses at the scene, the aircraft experienced a technical failure while flying at low altitude. During the emergency landing, part of the aircraft hit a light pole and the aircraft crashed to the ground,” Gill said. The only trainee pilot on board managed to escape without serious injury.Gill added: “There was only one trainee pilot on board the aircraft. Fortunately, the pilot was not seriously injured. Upon receiving information about the incident, police personnel rushed to the scene and necessary investigations and further actions are underway. Further details will be shared as they are received.”Police said they have launched an investigation into the incident and are awaiting further details.
