India eased into the quarter-finals with a 5-0 victory over Australia in the second match of Group A of the Thomas Cup in Horsens, Denmark on Monday.The 2022 champion team and the defending champion Chinese team are tied for first place in the group. India defeated Canada 4-1 on the first day, while China swept Australia 5-0 on April 24 and Canada 4-1 on Monday.India did not lose a set against the lower-ranked Australia. Laksha Sen India earned the first point by defeating Ephraim Stephen Sam 21-14, 21-16. US Open champion Ayush Shetty defeated Shrey Dhand 21-8, 21-6. In the first men’s doubles match, Rankireddy/Shetty defeated Rizki Hidayat/Jack Yu 21-14, 21-16.In the third singles match, HS Pranoy easily defeated Rishi Honda Boopathy 21-11, 21-17. The doubles pair of Hariharan Amsakarunan and MR Arjun defeated Andika Ramadesiya and Ephraim Stephen Sam 21-12, 21-10 in their last match. Japan and Malaysia are likely to advance to the quarterfinals from Group B. While Denmark advanced from Group C, Chinese Taipei and South Korea are competing for second place.
