New Delhi: India’s T20 World Cup winning captain Suryakumar Yadav According to reports, one of the biggest selection tasks in this competition is to choose Ishan Kishan Exceed Jitesh Sharma — is largely driven by instinct rather than pure numbers. It was very harsh for Jitesh Sharma at that time as he had been with the team for more than a year. If he had not played, the story would have been different,” he said in an interview on PTI Videos’ podcast.

The skipper revealed that the turning point came during a direct conversation with Kishan. “I called him and asked, ‘Chhotu, World Cup jitayega?’ He asked, ‘Bharosa karogey? ” I said, “ Chalkiya. “The way he played was amazing,” Suryakumar recalled. “I always knew he could be the X factor because he didn’t have the baggage.”Kishan proved his confidence in style during the tournament, scoring 317 runs in 9 games with over 190 in the opening match and ranking third with the bat. His score was the fourth-highest score of the tournament, helping India lift their second consecutive ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title. Rohit Sharma 2024.Suryakumar also highlighted Kishan’s determination to return to the national team after going through a difficult phase. “He’s been going through a bad period and has been out of the team for a while. But he travels across India for practices and mini-matches just to get ready,” he said.Another decisive tactical requirement proved to be the Sanzhou Samson at the top of the order. Suryakumar said Samson’s arrival changed the momentum of the Indian campaign. “After Sanju came in, the situation completely changed. It was also tactical because we had so many left-handers at the top and the opponent’s off-spinners found it easy.”Samson responded with match-winning performances, including scoring 89 points in both the semi-finals and final, ultimately earning him the Player of the Tournament award.Reflecting on his approach, Suryakumar said T20 batting is largely instinctive. “This is a reaction-driven sport. About 70 to 75 per cent of batting is reaction and the rest is instinct. On a given day, you just assess the demands of the situation and bat accordingly,” he said.
