Jammu: In a swift humanitarian response, the Army has successfully evacuated a critically ill woman from Chill, a remote village at an altitude of 7,500 feet in Dudu-Pasangarh, India. Udhampur district in Jammu division on Monday.Lieutenant Colonel Suneel Bartwal of the Jammu Defense Force said, “At around 8 pm on April 18, a villager came to the military operating base to seek emergency medical assistance for his wife Sheetla Devi, who was suffering from epileptic seizures. Our troops responded quickly, mobilized under challenging night conditions, reached their residence and administered first aid immediately, stabilizing the patient in harsh field conditions.“A well-planned evacuation was carried out at dawn on April 19 to shift the patient to the nearest road junction in Ghar Katiyas. The evacuation was conducted over nearly 3 kilometers of rugged forest terrain with steep gradients and without any motorable roads. Army personnel carried the patient on a stretcher for nearly three hours to ensure her safe evacuation. The patient was later taken to the primary health center in Dudu by road and is now stable and receiving medical care,” Colonel Bhatwal added.Earlier this year, on January 29, Army troops successfully provided emergency medical assistance to Ashu, a 24-year-old woman suffering from postpartum problems in a remote, snow-covered village in Udhampur district due to heavy snowfall that blocked all roads leading to the nearest hospital, the Ayushman Arogya Mandir Primary Health Center in Lathi.
