Texas woman running for governor mocks Native Americans, calls her new name ‘Pria’

Texas woman Kelly Smith posted an AI-generated photo mocking Native Americans and said her new name was Priya.

A Texas woman who says she’s running for governor in Texas has stirred up some new anti-Indian sentiment because she “decided to become an Indian,” she said, because all Indians claim to be “as American as I am.” She posted a picture of herself in Indian attire in front of a temple backdrop and said her new name is Priya. “I’ll be eating burgers and wearing shoes at Temple because I can’t give up my Texan culture. I’m as Indian as you guys and my new name proves it. In fact, we should all be Indian and grill some steaks at Temple. Thank you,” Kelly wrote.Kelly added: “You guys are so pissed off about the joke photo of me grilling burgers, which is exactly what Texans do. Imagine how Texans feel about you disrespecting this in real life. Put aside your arrogance. True Texans grow up respecting our nature and not littering. Putting milk, statues and fruit into our lakes is more insulting to us than some stupid AI photo. Texans are tired of seeing Indian stores popping up on every corner, every new mall here is Indian! This is not India! It’s an insult to us,” Kelly added. While there is no shortage of Indian-hating Americans in Texas, Kelly Smith says she is a candidate for the nomination in this November’s gubernatorial election. A write-in candidate is a candidate whose name does not appear on the printed ballot and voters must fill in their name manually. She launched a fundraiser with only 14 donations so far, knowing her chances of running were long-shot, but she did what is a surefire way to attract attention on social media – spreading anti-India hate.“My name is Kelly Smith and I am a lifelong Texan. I grew up in Cedar Hill. I believe in America and I believe Texas belongs to Texans. Let’s come together and I will put my name on the gubernatorial ballot this November. The chances are slim, but Texas deserves to be saved,” her fundraiser said.
