Fox News’ Bill Melugin initially reported that the suspect was a naturalized U.S. citizen living in the Dearborn Heights area of ​​Michigan. Additionally, FOX 2 Detroit reports that the suspect has ties to the Middle East and was originally from lebanon. The report added that family members of the suspect were killed in recent Israeli air strikes in Lebanon

The suspect has not yet been identified. According to law enforcement, the suspect crashed a car into the synagogue before opening fire. A security guard at the synagogue was injured, and no other injuries were reported.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard did not say how the suspect was killed. He confirmed that security at the synagogue shot the suspect. “We can’t say yet what killed him,” he said.
