New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday condemned Iran’s attack on Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates that left three Indian nationals injured. In a post on X, PM Modi wrote: “Strongly condemn the attack on the UAE in which three Indian nationals were injured. Targeting civilians and infrastructure is unacceptable.““India stands firmly with the UAE and reiterates its support for peaceful resolution of all issues through dialogue and diplomacy. Ensuring safe and unimpeded navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is critical for lasting regional peace, stability and global energy security,” the Prime Minister added.Earlier today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also condemned the attack, calling it “unacceptable” and urging an immediate cessation of hostilities against civilians.New Delhi’s response came a day after a drone strike sparked a fire at a key oil facility in Fujairah. The UAE blamed Iran for the attack amid rising tensions in the region.“The attack in Fujairah in which three Indian nationals were injured is unacceptable,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said. “We call for an immediate cessation of these hostilities and attacks on civilian infrastructure and innocent civilians.”He added that India continues to support “dialogue and diplomacy” to restore peace and stability in the West Asian region, while also calling for “free and unimpeded navigation and commerce” through the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law.The Indian Embassy in the UAE confirmed that the injured national was receiving medical attention and officials were coordinating closely with local authorities. The attack comes as the fragile U.S.-Iran ceasefire comes under pressure, especially around the Strait of Hormuz, a key passage for global energy supplies. The UAE said its air defense systems intercepted multiple missiles and drones and warned it remained prepared to respond to any threats to its security and sovereignty.
