CHENNAI: DMK and AIADMK reportedly in talks for post-poll tie-up, DMK legislature has empowered outgoing CM Stalin “Study the changing political situation and take immediate decisions” to ensure the formation of a stable government. A resolution to this effect was passed at a meeting of DMK MLAs chaired by Stalin in Chennai on Thursday. DMK sources said Stalin has told the MLAs that they should abide by any decision taken by the high command in the interest of the party. The DMK has neither denied that DMK-AIADMK alliance talks are ongoing nor ruled out the possibility of such an agreement between the two Dravidian rivals. Asked about reports of a DMK-AIADMK alliance, DMK organizing secretary TKS Elangovan said: “No such decision has been taken… But we will abide by whatever decision our representative (Stalin) takes. ” VCK Chairman Thol Thirumavalavan hinted that the two parties are discussing an alliance. Asked about a possible DMK-AIADMK deal, he said: “It has not taken shape yet. Once it takes shape, I will comment.” The AIADMK camp, however, remained tight-lipped. The DMK’s resolution at the legislative party meeting stated that the outcome of the assembly elections was that no party secured a majority. “This is a sensitive and complex political situation. As Tamil Nadu is not ready for another election, the DMK’s primary objective is to ensure formation of a stable government while excluding communal forces,” the resolution said.
