New Delhi: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Friday evening shared a video purportedly showing the AMMK MLA-elect. Kamaraj Write a letter expressing support for Vijay’s party and sternly refuting the claims of the AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran The document was forged amid the fast-moving government formation struggle in Tamil Nadu. The brawl ensued after Dhinakaran rushed to Lok Bhavan to meet Governor Rajendra Arlekar and submitted a letter claiming that the AMMK’s lone MLA-elect remained loyal to the NDA and AIADMK alliance. He also supported AIADMK president Edappadi K. Palaniswami as the alliance’s chief ministerial candidate. However, TVK denied the allegations and released a video claiming that Kamaraj wrote the letter of support voluntarily.“The videos are of AMMK MLA Kamaraj voluntarily and happily writing a letter expressing his support for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. He had said that he was extending support to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam with the approval of AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran,” the party said.TVK further claimed that false information is now being spread to discredit this development. “However, the information now being circulated that he did not write the letter is completely false and contrary to the facts. Everyone must understand this clearly. TTV Dhinakaran is concealing all these facts and continues to spread fake news and misinformation,” the statement added.Vijay’s party also insisted it would not engage in political bargaining for support. “The public should understand that Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam does not need to bargain or negotiate with anyone,” it said.TVK emerged as the single largest party in the 234-member parliament, with 108 seats, 10 short of a majority. The party has since been seeking support from smaller parties and independents in its bid to form a government. The Congress won five seats and the Communist Party of India and the CPI(M) two seats each, which had extended their support to TVK, signaling a dramatic political realignment in the state and putting pressure on the long-standing DMK-Congress alliance.Congress MP Manikam Tagore accused political opponents of trying to block Vijay’s path to power despite what he termed a public mandate.“Those who have been defeated by the people have once again reared their heads and tried to prevent Mr. Vijay from becoming the Chief Minister,” Tagore wrote in “X.” He added, “Power may delay the judgment of the people, but it can never suppress the judgment of the people forever.”
