A man accused in two racketeering-related shootings in Surrey is now on the run and police have issued a Canada-wide arrest warrant for him, CBC News reports.Jagdeep Singh, 24, is wanted by police in connection with two shootings at the same house on 32nd Avenue in Surrey, B.C. Last November, the two shootings occurred five days apart. No one was injured in either incident.Singh is one of three foreigners charged in the case. Others include 22-year-old Avtar Singh and 28 years old Sandeep Singhwho was detained. All three men face one count of unlawful discharge of a firearm and one count of extortion.Two co-accused remain in custody and police say Jagdeep Singh’s whereabouts are unknown. He is also wanted on an immigration warrant by the Canada Border Services Agency.The Parkland RCMP in Alberta said in a separate statement that Jagdeep Singh was arrested while passing through Red Deer, Alberta on November 17, 2025. He was later released pending further enquiries. Police said a firearm was seized during a search conducted at the time of his arrest.“Investigators sent the seized firearm to the … provincial firearms laboratory for testing and the firearm was found to be [seven] Shootings occurring across the country are not related to this incident,” the RCMP said.“The ongoing investigation has uncovered several key pieces of evidence linking the suspect to an extortion campaign targeting the South Asian community and the shooting at a Parkland County residence,” police added.The charges in the Surrey case were announced by B.C.’s provincial racketeering task force. The task force was set up after a sharp increase in extortion cases. Officials say recent extortion-related violence has targeted members of the South Asian community and business owners in the Lower Mainland.Surrey Police said it has launched more than 50 separate extortion investigations since the start of the year.
