New Delhi: More than a year ago, Madhya Pradesh Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah accused Colonel Sophia Qureshi of “disgustingly”operation sindor” The Supreme Court on Friday seemed to be in no mood to condone his misdemeanor and asked the state government to seek permission to prosecute him on an SIT plea.Solicitor General Tushar Mehta submitted a status report to the Supreme Council and said Shah seemed to have intended to praise Colonel Qureshi but made a mistake in issuing a statement that unfortunately conveyed a different meaning.A bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi said, “The statement was very unfortunate and there seemed to be no sense of remorse on his part.” Shah’s lawyer Maninder Singh said the minister immediately apologized within 24 hours after realizing that the statement was viewed differently. The bench said this was not the only instance of the minister making objectionable remarks and asked the SIT to find out other instances where he made such remarks, as the SIT had pointed out in its earlier report. When SG Tushar Mehta said the politician was unable to properly express his praise for the woman police officer, the bench said: “The politician was otherwise very articulate and conveyed their intentions.
