Musk shared the news on X (formerly Twitter) and said: “Starlink is now available in Kuwait!” The official Starlink X account also posted a coverage map showing that the entire country is under the network. Residents can now purchase Starlink kits online. The launch appears to address the country’s growing connectivity issues.

How to connect to Starlink in Kuwait through the official website

  • Users in Kuwait can register for Starlink through the official website.
  • On the official Starlink website, select a service address and find the appropriate pricing plan.
  • Therefore, pricing in Kuwait is as follows: (approximately)
    • The residential plan reportedly costs 31 Kuwaiti dinars per month, which is approximately Rs 9,330.
    • The mini kit is priced at KD 92, which is approximately Rs 27,700.
    • The standard kit is reported to be 122 KWD, which roughly translates to Rs 36,700 to Rs 38,600.

The first month is reportedly free for new subscribers. Kuwait experienced internet outages earlier this month, but the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) said the issues were not related to the ongoing conflict, Kuwait Times reported.

What is Starlink and how it works

Starlink Internet services are satellite-based and rely on Internet connections provided by thousands of satellites in low-Earth orbit. These satellites are located at an altitude of approximately 550 kilometers from the Earth. This internet service is primarily designed to provide high-speed internet access to remote or underserved areas. Internet services can also provide secure internet connectivity in areas where infrastructure may be affected by conflict, experts say.The timing of the Starlink launch appears to be significant. Kuwait is indirectly affected by military activities related to conflicts with the United States, Israel, and Iran. Satellite internet may provide a more stable connection than traditional infrastructure, which is prone to attacks or technical failures.
