Sonny Joy NelsonAxios reports that she, who has served as Special Assistant to the President and White House Director of Media Affairs since the beginning of President Trump’s current term, is leaving the White House to establish her own media booking and communications consulting firm, Cornerstone Strategies.
A proud North Carolinian, Nelson One of the first communications staffers for Trump’s 2024 campaign, she serves as director of media affairs and has served in various communications roles in Trumpworld since 2020.
Nelson expects her second child, a boy, to be born this fall. Friday is her last day at school White House.

Nelson married former lacrosse player Sam Klingsporn in July 2022. Nelson told me that the name of her media relations and public affairs firm “was inspired by Jesus, who is the cornerstone of my life and the foundation of my company. Our goal is to create media that not only looks good, but communicates something real and lasting.”
