Son withdraws charges, High Court ends Bina Modi case

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday concluded criminal proceedings against Godfrey Phillips India chief managing director Beena Modi, her personal security guard Surendra Prasad and senior lawyer Lalit Bhasin after Samir withdrew the allegation that his son Samir was attacked during a board meeting in 2024.Samir informed Justice Saurabh Banerjee through video conferencing that he had withdrawn the complaint against his mother and two others, who had approached the Supreme Court seeking relief after they settled with Samir.The Saket court summoned the three defendants on February 10 to appear in court on May 7. Prosecutors said Samir went to the India office of Godfrey Phillips to attend a board meeting in his capacity as executive director on May 30, 2024. He alleged that Prasad prevented him from entering the boardroom on Beena’s instructions and assaulted him when he persisted; he alleged that he suffered a fracture on his right index finger and filed an FIR in June 2024.On March 1, 2025, the police submitted a charge sheet naming Prasad as the main accused while clearing Bina and Bhasin on the grounds of insufficient evidence.
