Surabhi Rajkonwari, the candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), came second with 45,344 votes, losing by 11,875 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, Sibsagar had 1,38,397 electors and the number of valid votes was 1,13,331. Congress candidate Pranab Kumar Gogoi won the seat with 48,584 votes, defeating BJP candidate Surabhi Rajkonwar who polled 48,042 votes. The winning margin was 542 votes.
