‘Shameful’: Caroline Levitt slams Larry Krasner for arrest threats against ICE agents deployed at US airports

White House press secretary Carolyn Leavitt fired back at Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner on Wednesday after he warned immigration agents they could face arrest, calling his comments “disgraceful.”The White House press secretary responded at a news conference, questioning the basis of Krasner’s comments and criticizing the tone of his warning.

‘Agents are helping, not breaking the law’

The White House press secretary pointed out that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were at the airport to assist travelers and were not engaged in illegal activities.“He was talking to ICE agents who were handing out water bottles and helping people line up at the airport,” she said, dismissing the idea that the agents committed crimes.

Strong defense from ICE personnel

The White House press secretary defended the agency, calling ICE officials “great people” who perform critical duties. She added that their work was not limited to airports but included maintaining public safety across the country, including responding to serious criminal threats. The White House press secretary also addressed Krasner’s stance, suggesting that he should speak directly with ICE personnel to understand their role rather than issue threats. Her comments underscore the administration’s staunch defense of federal agents amid criticism from local officials.

Krasner’s comments on ICE

Earlier, Krasner warned that federal immigration agents operating in Philadelphia could face legal consequences if they violate local laws. He claimed that any individual who commits a crime within the city’s jurisdiction will be prosecuted regardless of federal authorities.Krasner also said presidential pardons do not shield individuals from local prosecution and stressed that his office will take action if violations are violated, while insisting that his job is to uphold the Constitution and protect public safety.
