Sengar's probation plea: HC asks AIIMS to examine him

New Delhi: delhi high court AIIMS has asked AIIMS to constitute a medical committee to examine Jaideep Sengar. Jaideep Sengar has sought a suspended sentence of 10 years in prison on health grounds in the 2018 custodial death of the father of a rape survivor in Unnao.Jaideep is the brother of expelled BJP functionary Kuldeep Sengar, who was convicted of raping an Unnao girl when she was a minor. Jaideep sought relief for suffering from a suspected recurrence of stage 4 oral cancer.A bench of Justices Navin Chawla and Ravinder Dudeja said an independent medical assessment was necessary to ascertain Jaideep’s current health condition. The CBI opposed the petition and alleged that the medical documents produced by the convicts in support of his confession were forged. Lawyers for the rape survivor also opposed the plea, fearing he would abuse his freedom.
