Scottish crime boss Steven Lyons to be deported to Spain days after arrest in Bali

Steven Lyons, 45, one of Scotland’s most notorious gangsters, is set to be deported to Spain after being arrested at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai international airport on Saturday. Indonesian authorities said Lyons, who arrived by plane from Singapore, was wanted in Spain for organized crime. drug traffickingmoney laundering and murder in 2024.Lyons, reportedly the leader of a transnational criminal organization spanning Europe and the Middle East, was detained after being intercepted by immigration officials. He is accused of using shell companies to launder money in Spain, Scotland, England, Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain and Türkiye.Lyons’ wife, Amanda Lyons, was also arrested in Dubai on suspicion of crimes in Spain, suggesting authorities are targeting the heart of the criminal syndicate.Bali police chief Daniel Adityajaya said Lyons was the leader of “a large transnational criminal organization involved in drug trafficking and money laundering”. The arrests were made following coordinated raids in Scotland and Spain, supported by Europol, which resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of assets.Lyons survived a shooting in Glasgow in 2006 when his cousin was killed and later moved to Spain before finally settling in Dubai. He has links to the Dubai-based Kinahan crime syndicate and a decades-long feud with rival Scottish gangs.Bali authorities are still searching for two companions who arrived with Lyon but are still at large on the island.
