Savannah Guthrie ‘very concerned’ about mother Nancy being targeted because of her fame; ‘Weighing quitting Today show for good’

Since Nancy’s disappearance, Savannah has been absent from the show while coordinating with law enforcement and appealing to the public for help.

‘She was really worried it was because of her job’

The possibility of her departure comes amid growing frustrations with the investigation and emotional tension among the “Today” show hosts.

An NBC insider told Page Six, “The entire show and network are united in supporting our beloved colleagues and friends as we navigate this unimaginable time.”

In October 2024, Page Six learned Savannah’s contract was up for renewal and she had just over a year left on her $7 million annual deal.

According to The Sun , Savannah is “considering quitting the Today Show for good.”

NewsNation’s Paula Froelich quoted a source as saying, “It came out of the blue and I think she was really concerned that it was because of her job.” Savannah was concerned that her mother, Nancy, was being targeted because of her fame, Froelich said.

In a November 2025 NBC clip, the mother-daughter team took part in a show titled “Savannah’s Arizona Homecoming,” which also included her sister Annie.

Savannah’s homecomings are documented, including to her alma mater and El Charro, America’s oldest family-owned Mexican restaurant, where she dines with her family in the episode.

Looking for Nancy, no breakthrough

Pima County Sheriff’s Office and FBI An intensive search has been underway since Nancy disappeared from her home in Tucson on February 1.

Authorities have obtained multiple evidence leads, but none have been able to identify a suspect or lead law enforcement to reliable information about Nancy’s whereabouts.

Police vowed to find Nancy and those responsible for her disappearance, although they admitted they were “exhausted” in their search for Nancy, who had poor health and required daily medication.

With investigators running out of clues and suspects, they are now trying to connect to Nancy’s pacemaker using a high-tech scanner that can detect Bluetooth signals, The Sun reported.

The situation was further complicated by the fact that some of the ransom letters, some of which turned out to be fraudulent, were sent to family members, law enforcement and other news organizations.
