Saudi Arabia has warned expats that staying in the kingdom after their entry visa has expired could result in fines of up to 50,000 Saudi riyals, imprisonment of up to six months and deportation.In a statement, the Home Office urged visa holders to comply with the country’s immigration regulations and reminded the public to report violations of residency, labor and border security regulations. Reports can be made by dialing 911 in Mecca, Medina, Riyadh and the Eastern Governorate, and 999 in all other areas.The warning comes as Saudi authorities continue to step up enforcement of immigration laws. Last week, the Home Office said more than 15,000 people had been arrested in a nationwide operation targeting residency, labor and border security breaches, underscoring the government’s ongoing crackdown on immigration-related crime.Officials have repeatedly said they will continue to enforce the kingdom’s residency and border regulations, urging residents and visitors to obey the law to avoid legal action.
