The San Rafael Fire Department released a statement regarding the incident, saying “SRFD is currently responding to an incident on Larkspur Street. Please stay away from the area. More information will be provided after the incident.”

They noted it was a commercial fire.

San Rafael fire: Photos emerge

Meanwhile, one person shared photos of the fire, saying “There is a fire on the San Rafael Canal that can be seen from our terrace.”

The San Rafael Fire Department also shared a photo X.

“Firefighters are battling a large commercial structure fire at 55 Larkspur Street, please stay away from the area,” they wrote.

In subsequent updates they additional “The fire has been contained to the original building. All persons have been accounted for and no one was injured.” and “The fire has been contained.”

They had earlier noted that no evacuation was required at the time. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The Marin Independent also reported on the fire in the canal area, noting that authorities responded around 3:30 p.m.
