Russia launches 31 missiles and 636 drones into Ukraine, killing 14 people

Russian missile and drone strikes killed at least 14 people across Ukraine overnight, including a child, local authorities said on Thursday, in one of the latest wave of missile and drone attacks in the ongoing war.The attacks targeted several cities, including the capital Kiev and the southern port city of Odessa, causing widespread damage to residential buildings and infrastructure.Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said at least four people were killed in the capital, including a 12-year-old boy, and dozens were injured. “A drone … literally flew into an 18-story apartment building,” he said, describing the scale of the damage.“Rescue teams rescued a mother and son from a badly damaged building,” he added.Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force said it intercepted 31 missiles and 636 drones in the past 24 hours.Cross-border attacks have continued and escalated during the four-year conflict. According to Agence France-Presse, Russia has stepped up nighttime drone attacks, and Ukraine has also launched attacks in Russia.

Several areas were attacked, dozens of people injured

According to Agence France-Presse, lives were lost in Odessa after “several waves” of missile and drone attacks, while more casualties were reported in the central region of Dnipropetrovsk. At least 45 people were injured in Kiev alone, including first responders.The explosion sparked fires, set cars on fire, shattered windows and damaged the facades of buildings and hotels across Kiev as rescue teams pulled survivors from the rubble of collapsed buildings.A drone strike in the northeastern city of Kharkiv injured at least two civilians, including a 77-year-old woman, officials said.

Odessa and Dnipro suffered severe damage

Outside the capital, the southern port city of Odessa was among the worst-hit areas, with “several waves of missile and drone attacks” killing seven people and wounding 11 others, regional officials said.Oleksandr Ganzha, the governor of the Dnipro region, said two people were dead and 27 injured, and pictures showed residential buildings engulfed in flames.Officials also reported damage to infrastructure and homes in multiple areas, underscoring the scale of the coordinated attacks.

Local authorities said a Russian drone strike from Ukraine killed two children aged 5 and 14 in the Black Sea region of Tuapse.
