‘Rs 37 lakh in cash, gold and silver seized’: CBI arrests DGCA deputy director in bribery case

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Sunday arrested a senior DGCA official and a representative of a private company in a bribery case worth Rs 2.5 lakh.According to an official statement, the official is the Deputy Director, Airworthiness Directorate, Directorate General of Civil Aviation Headquarters, New Delhi.“The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case on April 18, 2026, against an official of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and a representative of a New Delhi-based private company, alleging that the accused civil servants of the DGCA sought undue benefits from private individuals instead of issuing approvals and permissions from the DGCA,” the investigative agency said.Subsequently, the central agency also conducted searches at four locations related to the accused and other individuals.“Consequently, the CBI conducted searches at the residences of the accused civil servants and other private individuals at 04 locations in Delhi and seized cash, gold and silver coins and multiple digital devices worth Rs 37 lakh,” the statement said.The statement said that cash, gold coins, silver coins and multiple digital devices worth Rs 3.7 million were seized during the raids.
