New Delhi: RyanparagThe Rajasthan Royals captain was fined 25% of the match fee and one point deducted for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the IPL 2026 match between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab.The sanction relates to Level 1 offenses under Article 2.21, which covers “conduct that brings the game into disrepute”. The breach occurred in the second innings of the Mullanpur match when Parag was caught Smoking in the locker room During the live broadcast.“Riyan was found to have violated Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which relates to ‘conduct that brings the game into disrepute’. The incident occurred in the second innings when Riyan was seen using an e-cigarette in the dressing room,” an IPL media release said. Parag admitted his crime and accepted the penalty from match referee Amit Sharma. As per IPL regulations, Level 1 violations will result in a fine of 25% of the match fee and a deduction of 1 point without the need for a formal hearing.The incident came to the attention of officials after video evidence emerged, following which on-field umpires Tanmay Srivastava and Nitin Menon reported the matter, PTI reported. The IPL media advisory further added that the BCCI is also “exploring other options to initiate proceedings to take stern action against the erring teams, their officials and players to ensure that the reputation of the IPL remains intact.”Parag’s actions drew criticism on social media, especially given India’s 2019 law banning e-cigarettes from their production, sale and use.
