New Delhi: In a major blow to the organized illegal wildlife trafficking network, the Congress State Tiger Strike Force in coordination with the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau on Sunday arrested reptile smuggling gang leader Tarak Nath Ghosh from Kanpur, Vishwa Mohan reported.Ghosh, who is part of a gang run by international wildlife smuggler Manivannan Murugesan in Chennai, is wanted in three cases registered in Parliament for transnational illegal trade in turtles and crocodiles.Murugesan was arrested in 2018, but Ghosh has been absconding. “He operated from Kolkata and procured crocodiles and turtles from the Chambal and Yamuna rivers and trafficked them to Bangladesh,” an official said.
