Probe into his pro-Khalistan
drug trafficking The ring is likely to start in Canada.
Singh was arrested in March 2023 in Auckland in connection with a case where a large amount of methamphetamine was seized. A New Zealand court has now officially revealed Singh’s identity. It is no exaggeration to say that the case file has opened a can of worms.
The investigation began after reports a man died after drinking alcohol. Investigators stumbled upon a 473ml blue beer can with a red bear and maple leaf on it. Analysis of the can’s contents revealed it was methamphetamine.
Singh (40) was arrested and appeared in court, with police alleging that part of the goods he imported contained liquid methamphetamine and the rest contained beer. After his arrest, his family fought hard to suppress his name’s connection to Khalistani, saying they faced threats, but an appeals court recently lifted the suppression in the public interest.
Singh was sentenced to 22 years in prison with a minimum of 10 years on multiple drug charges. His accomplice Himatjit Singh Kahlon was sentenced to 21 years in prison.
