Rains in parts of Haryana, Punjab; temperatures hover below normal

Rains lashed parts of Punjab and Haryana on Friday with temperatures hovering below normal.Chandigarh received rain throughout the day for the second day in a row, with showers leading to a sharp drop in mercury levels here. The maximum temperature here dropped to 18.8 degrees Celsius, 10 degrees below normal, according to the MeT.Ambala, Panchkula, Narnaul, Rohtak, Mohali, Patiala and Rupnagar are the other places that receive rainfall in the two states.Rains hit many parts of Punjab and Haryana on Thursday, leading to a sharp drop in temperatures. The maximum temperature dropped sharply again on Friday.Amritsar in Punjab recorded a maximum temperature of 23.7 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal. The maximum temperature in Ludhiana was 21.6 degrees, 7 degrees below normal.Patiala recorded a maximum temperature of 20.3 degrees Celsius, nine notches below normal.In Haryana, Ambala recorded a maximum temperature of 18.5 degrees Celsius, 10 degrees below the normal limit.Hisar recorded a maximum temperature of 22.2 degrees Celsius, 7 degrees below normal.The maximum temperature in Karnal settled at 22.2 degrees, more than six notches below normal.
