‘Parks, tourist attractions unsafe’: Iran vows to pursue US, Israeli officials globally

Iran has issued serious threats to the United States and Israel, vowing to hunt down their officials across the globe, even while on vacation. The military went on to warn that tourist attractions, parks and entertainment centers were “unsafe” for enemies.“We are monitoring your cowardly officials and commanders, pilots and evil soldiers,” state television quoted Iran’s armed forces spokesman Abolfazl Shikarchi as saying. He added: “From now on, based on the information we have about you, promenades, resorts and tourism and entertainment centers around the world will also be unsafe for you.”Abolfazl Shekazi issued the warning on Friday as Iran continues to face U.S. and Israeli air strikes. His comments are likely to fuel concerns that Tehran may turn to aggressive action outside West Asia as a means of applying pressure if the conflict intensifies.U.S. and Israeli leaders claim weeks of attacks have severely weakened Iran’s military capabilities. The strikes also reportedly killed several top figures, including the country’s top leader, the chairman of the Supreme National Security Council and a number of other senior military and political officials.Iran has launched attacks on energy facilities in Israel and neighboring Gulf Arab states even as people in the region celebrate one of the holiest days in the Muslim calendar. Meanwhile, Iranians are celebrating Nowruz, the Persian new year, although celebrations have been largely suppressed this year due to ongoing conflict.
