New Delhi: Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu on Saturday expressed concern over his relationship with Rahul Gandhi The latter’s “traitor” remarks in parliament earlier this week. Bittu claimed that the opposition Lok Sabha leader had a “bad temper” and became “so violent” that other Congress leaders had to stop him.The former Congress leader said he was walking towards Parliament when Rahul approached him “after losing his temper”, PTI reported. Bittu said he took the initiative to shake hands and considered himself a “shahanshah” (emperor).
“One of his arms was held by Congress leader KC Venugopal and the other by Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Randhawa,” Bittu was quoted as saying by PTI.“He became so violent that he didn’t know what he had, only God knows,” Bittu claimed.The incident took place outside Parliament Makadewa, the main entrance for MPs to enter the new Parliament building, where Rahul and suspended MPs, mostly from Punjab, stood protesting on the steps. “A traitor is walking by. Look at this face,” Rahul said to Bittu. He offered a handshake, saying: “Hello, brother, my traitor friend. Don’t worry, you’ll be back (in Congress).”Bittu refused to shake hands and retorted: “Desh ke dushman..” The verbal exchange was caught on camera.He further said that he was not quitting the Congress mid-term, adding that he completed his third term as an MP before joining the Congress. bjpBittu joins the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. He is a member of the Lok Sabha and served as a minister during the third term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
