New Delhi: A senior delegation of the BJP met the BJP on Wednesday election committee More than the President of Congress Malikajun Hagerspeech against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju said that no political party has shown such a level of disrespect as the Congress Party. Rijiju added that the delegation asked the EC to take “strict action” and the Congress president to apologize to the country.“A high-level delegation including senior ministers, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, myself and Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal met the Election Commission. We discussed the derogatory language used by Congress president Mallikarjun Haq against the Prime Minister. This is a national issue, a democratic issue. Calling the Prime Minister a terrorist is a crime,” Rijiju said.“No political party has ever used such abusive language against a prime minister. We have asked the committee that if such language is used by any political party in the country, it is none of our party or government’s business but is a despicable act that is anti-democratic and undermines democracy in many ways. We demand that strict action must be taken and Congress Mallikarjun Haq apologizes to the people of the country,” he added.
Rijiju also said that all terrorists will be eliminated under the leadership of the Prime Minister and the Congress party will be punished by the people. After hearing our input, the Electoral Commission said they would take appropriate action. We are confident about it,” the Union Minister said. “The investigation to be done by the EC is different. But the terrorists targeting our country will be done under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi who is called a terrorist. The public will punish the Congress just as Prime Minister Modi will punish the terrorists,” Rijiju affirmed.Earlier on Tuesday, the BJP had lodged a “strong complaint” against Haq, saying statements he made during the Tamil Nadu Assembly campaign were in serious violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).“We have lodged a strong complaint against Congress President Shri @kharge ji for his shocking and shameful remarks calling Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji a ‘terrorist’. This is not just derogatory but a dangerous and unprecedented attack on democratic institutions. Blatant violation of the Model Code of Conduct. Taking immediate action is non-negotiable. “Rijiju posted on X.The party believes that the remarks, which have been widely circulated in digital and print media, are “highly likely to damage the electoral atmosphere” and undermine standards of civil discourse.Earlier, Haqq’s final day of campaigning in Tamil Nadu sparked controversy.Highlighting the opposition’s unity during the defeat of the delimitation bill, which was also linked to the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill, the Congress president criticized the BJP for supporting the BJP and termed Prime Minister Modi a “terrorist who does not believe in equality”.“I would also like to thank the people of Tamil Nadu for providing us MPs and that is why we were able to fight and defeat this bill. This is the land of Periyar’s scientific thinking and ideals,” Ambedkar, Annadurai, the great Kamaraj and Karunanidhi. These people represent reservation, justice, equality and fraternity for women. Modi does not support these principles, I also want to tell these AIADMK people who posted Annadurai’s picture themselves, how can they join Modi, Modi is a terrorist and does not believe in equality, his party does not believe in equality and justice and these people join them, it means they are weakening democracy, they are weakening the philosophy of Annadurai, Kamaraj, Periyar, Karunanidhi and Babasaheb Ambedkar. The Congress-DMK alliance will continue to provide welfare, inclusive growth, quality education and accessible healthcare,” he said.Asked about the choice of words, Haq quickly defended himself, claiming he meant the prime minister was intimidating his political opponents“He (Prime Minister Modi) is terrorizing people and political parties. I never said he is a terrorist…I want to clarify that Modi is always threatening. Agencies like ED, IT and CBI are in his hands. He also wants to keep delimitation power in his hands as well,” Khargage said.
