A case has been registered against Platform X for the “defamatory” AI video against PM, ECI.

New Delhi: Kerala police launch criminal probe into an AI-generated video allegedly targeting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and election commission of indiabooking the X Corp platform and user accounts for its circulation. The network unit said the video, flagged by authorities including the ECI, appeared aimed at misleading viewers and eroding confidence in key constitutional institutions at a sensitive electoral time.Thiruvananthapuram has filed an FIR against user Laxmi N Raju (@valiant_Raju) and other unidentified individuals and X Corp. Investigators are looking into who created and amplified the video and whether there was coordinated intent behind its dissemination.According to police, the sharing of the 77-second video could cause public disorder. The authorities also claimed that despite being asked to take down the platform, no action was taken. The case cited provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to provocation, forgery and public mischief and identity theft under the Information Technology Act.Officials said takedown notices have been issued in accordance with election rules and steps have been taken to curb further circulation.Police issued a public advisory warning against sharing unverified or manipulated content during the polls, saying any attempt to distort the electoral process would result in severe legal action.
