PM Modi: ‘India has managed the situation in the Middle East well, but the opposition wants to spread anarchy’

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said India has handled the fallout of the crisis in West Asia “effectively” while accusing the opposition of trying to “spread anarchy” by fueling fears of fuel shortages and rising prices.Addressing a rally in Vaftalad, Gujarat, Modi said the global chaos caused by tensions between the United States, Israel and Iran has affected global energy supplies, especially diesel, petrol and natural gas. But he said India had managed to control the situation due to “strong foreign policy and national unity”.“The situation in West Asia is affecting the entire world,” he said, adding that despite growing global difficulties, India has avoided major disruptions. “But at a time when the country needs unity, Congress leaders are spreading rumors and fear and trying to incite people to queue at petrol stations,” he said, accusing the party of seeking political gain from the crisis.Modi also said India is capable of dealing with any crisis and will become a global leader in renewable energy, pointing to India’s continued investments in power transmission and infrastructure. The Prime Minister’s remarks came as he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 20,000 crore in Gujarat in sectors such as power, railways, road transport, health, urban development and rural infrastructure. Key projects among them include the Ahmedabad-Dholela Expressway costing over Rs 5,100 crore, as well as multiple railway upgrades and city initiatives aimed at improving connectivity and public services. He also cited the strategic importance of Disa, saying a pending air base project had been stalled for years under previous governments. “The documents were buried, but once you gave me responsibility, we revived the project. Today, a major air force base stands there,” he said.
