afternoon Narendra Modi Hailing the Ganga Expressway named after the river Ganga on Wednesday, it was announced that the 594-km green corridor connecting Prayagraj and Meerut will be extended to Haridwar in Uttarakhand.Addressing a rally after the inauguration of the electronic link, Modi said the government will also work on building an electronic link to Farrukhabad and connecting it with other electronic links. Calling it a reflection of the vision of a “dual-engine government”, Modi said the project symbolizes the amalgamation of “vikas” and “virasat”. He emphasized that rapid infrastructure development is the key to India’s accelerated growth. Modi praised the speed of construction of Ganges Avenue, saying that the project was completed in less than five years since the foundation stone was laid in 2021. UP’s longest highway boosts speed, connectivity

Describing the highway as a “teertha”, Modi said it will be a lifeline for development in Uttar Pradesh and open up new economic opportunities. He added that the corridor would not only facilitate faster travel but also serve as a gateway for industrial growth and job creation. “Gone are the days when it would take years to build a road. There was a time when projects would sit in the archives,” he said. In an apparent swipe at the opposition, Modi said that in the past, plaques of the foundation were installed during polls but the projects never materialized even after the government changed.He criticized the previous government for neglecting the interests of farmers who faced storage and transportation difficulties. “Their problems will now be solved and they will get higher incomes,” he said. Modi said new industrial corridors will be developed along the Ganga Expressway. “The previous government did not even dream of setting up industrial corridors in various places including Hardoi,” he said.The Prime Minister said that Uttar Pradesh, which was earlier known as the “BIMARU” state, is now working towards becoming a $1 trillion economy. “It’s a huge goal. It requires just as much preparation,” he said. “Today, Uttar Pradesh’s economic development is also becoming a strategic advantage for India,” he said. “There was a time when UP was known for its pot-holed roads. Now, the state has the maximum number of highways,” he said.
