A 19-year-old man accused of causing a bomb scare at a Peter Kay comedy show was kicked out of court after repeatedly disrupting proceedings. During a brief hearing at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Omar Majeed was taken to a cell for failing to comply with a judge’s instructions.District Judge Michelle Smith, who appeared via video link, repeatedly instructed Majid to remain quiet and sit down. However, he was escorted out of the country before the hearing ended after he objected to the proposed bail conditions, calling them “unacceptable”.

Majid, from Saltley, Birmingham, faces charges of conveying false information to police about a bomb at the venue.Prosecutors said he told a police officer and others that an explosive device might have been left inside the arena. He did not enter a plea at the hearing and was remanded in custody. The court ruled the seriousness of the case warranted a trial in a criminal court and he will appear in court in June. The court heard the event had a “serious impact” and that nearly 13,000 people were expected to attend the event. Authorities ordered a complete evacuation of Birmingham’s Utilita Stadium, which has a capacity of more than 15,000 spectators.Police later confirmed that an extensive search found no suspicious items and described the evacuation as a precautionary response to a reported threat.Comedian Peter Kay was forced to abandon his performance about 45 minutes after taking the stage on Friday night. Witnesses said he was approached by two people mid-show and that he was quickly taken away.Initially, many viewers thought this interruption was part of the performance. However, the situation quickly became clear as announcements were made and the venue lights were turned on, prompting a controlled evacuation.Videos circulating online showed large crowds leaving the stadium and police vehicles arriving at the scene. Despite the scale of the response, officials later confirmed the site was safe. The canceled event is part of Peter Kay’s “Better Late Than Never” national tour, the proceeds of which will benefit multiple cancer charities. Organizers said ticket holders will be contacted to provide further updates and police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
