Peter Alexander, 49, is leaving nbc News after 22 years at the station, including his enduring role as co-host of Saturday Today.
Alexander revealed his exit in an interview broadcast On March 28, he expressed his desire to devote more time to his two daughters and “challenge myself with new things.”
Alexander lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife, Allison Starling, and their daughters, Ava, 12, and Emma, 10, while Saturday Day airs from 30 Rock’s Studio 1A in New York City.
“In the past seven months, I’ve been away from home more than 80 nights. In the past seven years, I’ve been away from my family more than 200 Friday nights,” Alexander said. “So, in this limited window before my girls lose interest in hanging out with me… I’m eager to achieve a better balance between my personal and professional lives.”
