However, the decision prompted a strong reaction from survivors of Epstein’s sexual abuse and trafficking network. Many of them have long criticized Bundy for mismanaging the release of documents that could have revealed the case.

Survivors call Bundy’s tenure a failure

After the news was announced, the Survivors Alliance issued a statement saying, “Attorney General Pam Bondi has failed survivors. Under her leadership, the Department of Justice mishandled the release of the Epstein dossier, resulting in millions of pages being withheld from the public and serious editorial errors exposing survivors’ identities. These missteps put survivors at risk, eroded trust, and exacerbated the trauma we have endured for years.”

The statement continued, “We pursued justice with courage and hope, but under Attorney General Bondi’s leadership, we were met with secrecy, mismanagement, and a failure to adequately protect our safety. Each misstep by the Department of Justice reminds us that the system too often protects abusers, not victims.”

Survivors stressed the need for accountability and transparency as the Justice Department transitions to new leadership: “As new leadership takes the helm at the Department of Justice, we stand ready to work together to push for a more rigorous and transparent process. We call for meaningful transparency, accountability for past mistakes, and real protections for those who have the courage to come forward. Accountability should not be based on power, position, or influence.”

Survivors’ personal reactions

Anne Farmer claims she was abused by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, tell peoplee, “This is not a problem for one person, but for a government and justice system that have repeatedly failed Epstein survivors. Regardless of who is in power, survivors should be held accountable, provided with transparency, protected from retaliation, and guaranteed that those who helped Epstein, Maxwell, and others will be investigated and, where appropriate, prosecuted.”

Jess Michaels expresses mixed feelings independentsaid: “My first reaction was good riddance, glad she was fired. My second reaction was, is this just another stalling tactic?”

Another survivor, Haley Robson, told The Independent, “I never thought I’d see this day but I’m a little curious why he chose to fire her now when she’s done so many things in the past like six months to a year that she should have resigned.”

Robson also warned, “I don’t think she ever intended to be honest or share any information. So it’s nothing new for her, but the fact that she’s no longer in a position of power because she abused that power… it’s, you know what – thank you, karma.”

Fellow survivor Lisa Phillips recalled Bundy’s dismay when she testified before the House Judiciary Committee in February 2026: “We were shaking. I cried because at that moment I realized, ‘Oh, this woman doesn’t care about us, and we can’t get justice through her.'”
