'You'll know in 10 days': Trump warns 'bad things' will happen if Iran doesn't reach meaningful deal

President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the United States may take next steps to resolve its standoff with Iran within the next 10 days, warning that “bad things are going to happen” if a “meaningful deal” is not reached.Speaking at a peace council event in Washington, Trump said talks with Iranian representatives were ongoing and described them as constructive, but warned that progress had historically been difficult.

‘Serious consequences’: Trump warns Iran of action despite first round of nuclear talks

Referring to U.S. negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who sat across from Trump, the president said, “They’re both good people, they both like them. They’ve had some very good meetings.” They had some very interesting meetings, and as you know, Iran is a hot spot right now, and they were having meetings and had a good relationship with the Iranian representatives.Trump further warned that if a meaningful agreement is not reached within the next 10 days, the United States may escalate and take further measures,“And, you know, there are good negotiations going on. It’s proven over the years that it’s not easy to make a meaningful deal with Iran. We have to make a meaningful deal or bad things are going to happen,” Trump said. “So now we may or may not have to take further steps. Maybe we will reach an agreement. You will find out in the next 10 days,” he added.

First meeting of the Peace Commission

Trump held the first meeting of the Peace Commission at the Donald J. Trump Peace Institute in Washington, DC. Speaking at a meeting attended by several world leaders, Trump explained what the committee is trying to do. “What we’re doing is very simple – peace. That’s an easy word to say but a hard word to say. But we’re going to make it happen and we’ve been doing a great job and some of the leaders that I’ve been with have helped me a lot in that first year that we’ve never had… We have great relationships… I’m grateful for you guys being here.”

Rising tensions and military buildup

Trump’s comments come as tensions rise between Washington and Tehran. According to previous reports by Reuters, the United States has significantly increased its military presence in the Middle East, deploying aircraft carriers, fighter jets and additional defense systems to the region.Satellite images reviewed by Reuters also show Iran is fortifying key nuclear and missile-related sites, including fortifying tunnel entrances and adding concrete shielding at sensitive facilities. Tehran has always denied seeking nuclear weapons. The renewed push for a deal comes after years of tense diplomacy. Trump withdrew the United States from the 2015 nuclear deal during his first term and has since advocated for a new arrangement that he says must be stronger and more comprehensive. Efforts by former President Joe Biden to restore the earlier framework did not result in a final agreement. Both sides described recent talks between U.S. officials and Iranian representatives in Geneva as constructive, but senior U.S. officials said major differences remained.Trump’s 10-day timetable suggests a decision point may be coming soon. While he reiterated that a deal was still possible, his warning suggested that Washington was prepared to consider other options if talks failed. There are no official signs of immediate military action. In recent days, however, diplomatic deadlines, apparent troop deployments and ongoing nuclear tensions have been the focus of U.S.-Iran relations.

King Charles’ brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in public office after being accused of sending classified government documents to convicted sex trafficker and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The arrest took place on what would have been the former prince’s 66th birthday. Days earlier, Thames Valley Police said it was investigating the allegations against Andrew.

King Charles’ reaction

King Charles said in a statement: “It was with the deepest concern that I learned of the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the suspicions of misconduct in public office.” The 77-year-old added that his family had given their “full and wholehearted support and co-operation.”

“Let me be clear: the law must follow its course… In the meantime, my family and I will continue to carry out our duties and serve all of you,” he wrote in the statement.

Mountbatten-Windsor’s office has not yet responded to the arrest.

Explaining the charges against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

According to police, recently released Epstein documents show that Mountbatten-Windsor forwarded reports to sex traffickers in 2010 about Vietnam, Singapore and other places he visited during an official trip as the government’s special representative for trade and investment.

He was forced to resign from that role in 2011 after his close ties to Epstein first came to light.

Thames Valley Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright said in a statement: “Following a thorough assessment, we have now launched an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office.”

“We understand there is significant public interest in this case and we will provide an update in due course.”

Will Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor face jail?

According to the Crown Prosecution Service, misconduct in public office relates to a serious abuse or neglect of power or responsibility. Its maximum penalty is life imprisonment.

Virginia Giuffre’s family reacts

Virginia Giuffre settled a civil lawsuit against the former prince in 2022, accusing Andrew of sexually abusing her when she was a teenager. The current investigation is not related to these allegations.

The family of Giuffre, who died by suicide last year, said in a statement: “Our broken hearts are strengthened today by the knowledge that no one, not even members of the royal family, is above the law.”

Last year, King Charles stripped his younger brother of his royal titles over his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

Indians attacked in Israel: WhatsApp plotted 'racially motivated' attack on 2 Indian workers in Ashkelon

According to a video report published by Israel’s public broadcaster (KAN) on February 16, the attack on two Indian workers in Ashkelon was coordinated through WhatsApp messages. Video shows at least two men being attacked by a group of attackers in what appears to be a park. Hebrew subtitles described the incident as a “premeditated” ambush driven by “racism and malice.”KAN’s report said the attackers planned the attack through private messages and then targeted nearby Indian workers, beating them in broad daylight. “Driven by racism and spite, a group of thugs from the south of the country orchestrated an attack that targeted nearby Indian workers and violently beat them in the center of the park,” the broadcaster said.Following the report, the Israeli Embassy in India condemned the attack as “absolutely unacceptable”. In a post on X, the embassy confirmed that the perpetrators had been captured, adding: “The Israeli police have captured the perpetrators and brought them to justice.”Congress leader Pawan Khera described the attack as a “premeditated racist attack” and urged External Affairs Minister Jaishankar to verify the status of the victims and ensure adequate free medical care if needed.Ashkelon, a city in southern Israel close to the Gaza Strip, has recently seen an increase in the number of Indian workers after Israel suspended the work permits of thousands of Palestinians following the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. India has launched a recruitment drive to fill the resulting labor shortage, especially in the construction and hospitality sectors. The attack comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Israel from February 25, during which issues such as bilateral cooperation, labor mobility and regional development are expected to be discussed.

Jaishankar intervened. He said in a post on“The government has failed to create enough jobs at home, forcing Indian laborers to travel to Israel in search of jobs. The government celebrates the ‘friendship’ between India and Israel while sending Indian laborers to Israel. But it remains silent and shirks responsibility when our people face barbaric treatment,” he added. He noted that Minister Jaishankar “should urgently investigate the matter, confirm the victim’s condition and ensure that he has access to adequate free medical care if needed.”Keira also questioned whether the Prime Minister Narendra Modi He will raise the issue during his upcoming visit to Israel. “Prime Minister Modi is about to visit Israel. 'Yes, Frisco has changed': Indian-American woman speaks out at U.S. city council meeting over racial attacks on H-1B

The most recent council meeting in Frisco, Texas (February 17) once again turned into a game of blaming India for the city’s changing face, with speakers calling for H-1B visas and an Indian takeover. Speaker Vinny Patel, who is of Indian descent, stood up against blatant racism and suggested the council only allow speakers from Frisco. “There have been several people who have expressed concerns about how the city has changed over the last 10, 20 years. I want to acknowledge those concerns,” the woman said. “Frisco has changed the way they describe it. It’s no longer a suburban town, and the changes can be uncomfortable, especially for those who have watched it grow over time. I also understand the concerns about rapid growth and mass migration from certain communities. What I don’t fully understand is that expectations for policy changes depend on who should live here,” said Patel. “As far as I know, there are no laws or quotas on how many people from any one community can live in a city or community. I believe that’s intentional.”Patel said her request to the City Council was simply to allow verified Frisco residents to speak at the meeting. The suggestion comes as anti-H-1B activists have stormed council meetings since the last meeting and targeted what they called an “Indian takeover” of Frisco. At Tuesday’s meeting, a former Frisco resident claimed to have uncovered a major real estate scam perpetrated by H-1B individuals in Texas. While she no longer lives in Frisco, her children do and they have been affected by the massive cultural change, the spokesperson said. The speaker said she witnessed firsthand how an H-1B rented out a home, but on moving day, a friend of that H-1B came and moved in — without proper verification, as the first H-1B went through the verification process. Once an Indian comes in to rent an apartment, they post an ad on a Facebook group specifically for Indians, so only Indians can get an apartment in Frisco.

The Israeli government installed security equipment to control access to former Prime Minister Barak's apartment in Epstein's Manhattan apartment

The Israeli government installed security equipment and controlled access to a Manhattan apartment building run by late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, an investigative report published by Drop Site News said.According to the report, according to a series of emails recently released by the U.S. Department of Justice, Israeli officials began coordinating directly with Epstein’s staff in early 2016 to secure a residence at 301 East 66th Street, where former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak often lived for a long time. The property is technically owned by a company linked to Epstein’s brother, Mark Epstein, but the disgraced financier effectively controls it, the report said. According to Al Jazeera, units in the building were frequently loaned out to Epstein’s associates and used to house underage models.Barak served as prime minister from 1999 to 2001. Under Israeli law, former prime ministers receive state-funded security services after leaving office. The documents describe a direct business relationship between Israel’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations and Epstein’s enterprises.According to reports, Rafi Shlomo, the former director of protective services at the Israeli mission and head of Barak’s security forces, personally controlled access to the apartment. Shlomo allegedly conducted background checks on Epstein’s employees and cleaning crews and held meetings with them to coordinate the installation of surveillance equipment. The report said that structural changes made by the Israeli government required Epstein’s permission. In a January 2016 email, Barak’s wife, Nili Priell, discussed the installation of sirens and surveillance tools with Epstein’s longtime associate Lesley Groff. Prior noted that the system includes sensors on the windows and remote access capabilities.“Before you need someone to get into the apartment, they can overpower the system from a distance [sic],” Prior wrote. “The only thing to do was to call Raffi at the consulate and let him know who was coming in and when. “Grove later confirmed to Barak and Prior that Epstein personally authorized the physical changes to the property, writing: “Jeffrey said he didn’t mind the holes in the wall and that was all good!”Regular communications continued between the Israeli delegation and Epstein’s representatives in 2016 and 2017 to manage the maid’s access and coordinate Barak’s subsequent visits, the report said. After Epstein died in a New York prison in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking, Barrack sought to downplay his relationship with the financier, claiming Epstein never supported him or paid him when they met.Barak’s rivals in Israel have seized on the political implications of the relationship, the report said. According to reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently weaponized the newly released documents, arguing that the relationships involved Barak and not Israel.“The unusually close relationship between Jeffrey Epstein and Ehud Barak does not indicate that Epstein worked for Israel. The facts prove the opposite,” Netanyahu said, accusing Barak of working with the “anti-Zionist radical left” to undermine Israel’s current government. However, emails released by the U.S. Department of Justice show that this entanglement is not limited to Barak but also involves other active Israeli state officials, the report said.According to reports, Yoni Koren, Barrack’s long-time aide who died in 2023, was also a frequent visitor to the 66th Street apartment. Congressional investigations and leaked emails allegedly show that Coren stayed at homes controlled by Epstein on multiple occasions, including in 2013 when he was the head of the Israeli Defense Bureau. Further records show that Coren continued to use the apartment while he was receiving treatment in New York until Epstein was finally arrested in 2019, the report said. The report said the relationship between Epstein and Israel has been in the spotlight since millions of documents related to Epstein’s criminal investigation were released. In addition to interactions with global elites such as Barak, the documents document Epstein’s financial support for Israeli groups such as Friends of the Army and settler group the Jewish National Fund, as well as his ties to Israel’s foreign intelligence agency Mossad, the report said.According to reports, Barak expressed remorse for his relationship with Epstein. Barrack allegedly maintained a close personal and business relationship with the financier despite pleading guilty to soliciting prostitution from a minor in 2008 and being jailed. According to reports, the former Israeli leader claimed that he still did not know the full scope of Epstein’s crimes before a broader federal investigation was launched in 2019.

New Delhi: Amid the political row over alleged restrictions on public sale of fish and meat in Bihar, West Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya on Thursday asserted that the people of Bengal are free to consume food of their choice and clarified that the party was only against public sale of beef. The controversy began when senior leaders of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, criticized the BJP-backed move against non-vegetarian eating habits. The remarks were related to a recent order issued by the Bihar government to regulate the public sale of meat.

Responding to the allegations, Bhattacharya said: “Bengalis can eat whatever they want. Bengal will have its own fish and meat,” the statement said, rejecting the TMC’s proposal to ban open sale of fish and meat in the neighboring state.Elaborating on the Bihar directive, he added that the BJP had not proposed any blanket restrictions. “They can never say such things. Why are they doing this? No one will accept it. TMC is distorting these comments,” he said.Bhattacharya further said that there is no such ban and if such a measure is imposed, people in Bihar or West Bengal will not comply, news agency PTI reported. He noted that the BJP’s stance was limited to opposing the open sale of beef. “The BJP will not allow you to sell something openly,” he said.Earlier, Mamata Banerjee expressed concern over the directive reported in Bihar, pointing out the impact on the livelihood of small traders. She said: “I saw a report on the deputy chief minister of Bihar claiming that fish and meat cannot be sold in the open market. This is anti-people and should be condemned. Can everyone sell meat and fish in shopping malls? What will happen to most of the people selling fish and meat on the road? What about their livelihood issues? Such politics is sad. “Talking about the issue again, Banerjee claimed, “If the BJP comes to power, they will ban the sale of meat and fish in Bengal. I have seen the deputy CM of Bihar saying that fish and meat cannot be sold in the open market. Only people with licenses can sell meat indoors. So, will everyone sell meat and fish in malls? Only a few have the financial strength to do so. Most fish vendors sell fresh fish on the streets. That is how they earn bread.” I condemn this politics. “

Harrison Oken: The man who survived for three days under a boat on the ocean floor

In the early morning of May 26, 2013, a tugboat operating near an offshore oil platform off the coast of Nigeria capsized and sank to the seabed. One crew member, 29-year-old chef Harrison Okene, was trapped inside the overturned vessel in about 30 meters of water. Jascon 4 came to a halt upside down. Eleven other men on board died. Okun survived in a small air pocket for nearly 60 hours before being discovered by divers sent to recover the body. His rescue was later captured on video and attracted global attention. Medical experts and diving experts have since studied how to survive underwater for three days in such conditions.

The Jascon 4 was stabilizing an oil tanker on a Chevron platform about 20 miles offshore when waves suddenly appeared. The tugboat flipped over and sank quickly. Okun was swept across the ship and ended up in a small toilet cubicle in the officer’s cabin. When the ship rests on the seabed, an air pocket forms in the space. The ship’s doors have been locked as a security measure against pirates. This decision limited the crew’s escape routes, but also helped trap air within sections of the hull. The water is very cold. Okun found a mattress and built a small platform to keep part of his body above the water. In the darkness, he persisted and waited.

Carbon dioxide poses greater danger

Lack of oxygen is not the most immediate threat. Eric Hexdall of Duke University’s Center for Hyperbaric Medicine said carbon dioxide accumulates faster in enclosed spaces and becomes toxic at concentrations around 5 percent. In an air pocket of about 13 cubic meters, a person can survive for about 56 hours before the carbon dioxide concentration reaches a critical value. Okun was trapped for nearly 60 hours.Carbon dioxide dissolves in water. By moving and splashing water within a confined space, he increases the contact between air and water. The surrounding seawater may have absorbed some of the gas, delaying the toxicity. Experts believe the airbag may also be connected to another compartment, providing additional volume. By the time divers reached him, he was showing early signs of exposure to carbon dioxide. He was found before losing consciousness.

High pressure creates further risks

The pressure 30 meters below the surface is approximately three times that at sea level. Under such pressure, nitrogen gas dissolves into the blood in large quantities. Prolonged exposure can cause nitrogen narcosis, a condition that impairs judgment and consciousness.Returning directly to the surface after being underwater for several days can cause decompression sickness, which is often fatal. Divers put an oxygen mask on Okun and guided him into a diving bell that maintained the same pressure as the ocean floor. From there he was transferred to a decompression chamber. The pressure gradually decreased over three days, allowing the nitrogen to safely leave his body. Subsequent physical examination revealed stable vital signs.
