'Don't think Salman Khan has the guts to say no': SP MP Abu Azmi mocks actor at RSS event

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party leader Abul Azmi on Tuesday hit out at actor Salman Khan for attending the RSS 100th anniversary celebrations, claiming that the Bollywood star might have attended the event under pressure. He also alleged that actors lack the courage to refuse invitations extended by the ruling body.Speaking to reporters, the SP MLA said that as a public figure, Khan may not have the right to reject invitations associated with people in power. “I understand Salman Khan is an actor and he has to be respected in this country. If people from the ruling side say anything, I don’t think Salman Khan has the courage to say no. He must have gone there under pressure from the government,” Azmi said, hinting at coercion behind the actor’s appearance.

Azmi made the remarks after Salman Khan attended a meeting RSS Mumbai Vyakhyanmala Saturday’s event, part of a two-day lecture series titled “One Hundred Years of the Sanger Journey: New Horizons.” The actor’s attendance at the event has since sparked a political debate, drawing reactions from leaders across party lines.Defend the Khan, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde dismissed the controversy and urged political leaders not to politicize the issue. In a landmark cultural moment in Islamic art and history, the Holy Qur’an Museum in Mecca’s Al-Hira Cultural District opens a special exhibition of the legendary “Blue Quran” (Al-Muṣḥaf al-Azraq) folio, one of the rarest and most lavish Qur’anic manuscripts ever created. Announced by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) and covered by leading international media, the exhibition highlights the deep historical roots of Islamic calligraphy and manuscript art while raising awareness of it. Saudi ArabiaPosition as custodian of global religious heritage.

What is the “Blue Quran”? Testimonies of Early Islamic Art

The Blue Quran is a remarkable Quranic manuscript believed to date from the 9th century, when early Islamic civilization was consolidating its unique artistic and cultural identity. What makes this manuscript so remarkable is its deep blue parchment written in early Kufic script with solid gold ink, a combination that reflects unparalleled craftsmanship and reverence for the sacred text. The specific folio now on display in the Mecca Museum contains verses from the Surah Al-Baqarah (verses 37-42), giving visitors a rare glimpse into the dedication and aesthetic achievement of early Muslim scribes. While surviving pages of the Blue Quran are extremely rare, with fragments held by a handful of museums and private collectors around the world, the current exhibition allows local and international audiences to view this remarkable artifact in the city where Islam’s spiritual journey began.

Quran Museum in Mecca, Saudi Arabia: Connecting Past and Present

Opening in 2025 in Mecca’s Shirah Cultural District, the Quran Museum is the first institution of its kind in the holy city, close to Jabal al-Nour, where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) received his first revelation. Designed to be a cultural landmark and educational center, the museum uses interactive exhibits and modern technology to tell the story of the Qur’an’s preservation, transcription and artistic evolution over the centuries.Visitors can explore rare manuscripts, historical copies of the Quran, and exhibits that illustrate the journey of the sacred text since its revelation. The addition of the Blue Quran Folio is part of the museum’s ongoing mission to deepen cultural awareness and showcase the beauty of the Quran’s heritage to domestic and foreign visitors.

Cultural and Academic Significance of the Blue Quran

The Blue Quran has special significance in the history of Islamic art. In addition to its ornate aesthetic, its deep blue parchment and sumptuous gold calligraphy reflect early Muslims’ deep reverence for the Qur’anic text and their commitment not only to preserving its content but to presenting it as a work of sacred art.Experts say such manuscripts can help scholars trace the development of Arabic calligraphy and lighting techniques in the early Islamic period, showing how artistic traditions evolved alongside religious beliefs. Globally, institutions such as the Zayed National Museum (UAE), the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), and the National Library of Tunisia hold other rare Quranic manuscripts, including early Kufa manuscripts and beautifully illustrated copies from North Africa, Persia, and Central Asia.

By displaying fragments of the Blue Quran, the Mecca Museum joins a distinguished circle of world institutions dedicated to preserving and sharing Islam’s manuscript heritage. The presentation of the Blue Quran coincides with a broader resurgence of interest in Quranic manuscripts at museums and cultural fairs in the region. For example:The Quran Museum in Mecca also hosts other rare exhibits, including centuries-old copies that illustrate the diversity of Islamic calligraphy traditions and Quran preservation practices. Biennales of Islamic art and manuscript exhibitions, such as those in Jeddah and Riyadh, feature historical Qurans and related artifacts, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s growing role as a center for cultural scholarship and public engagement with Islamic art.

These initiatives support broader regional efforts to celebrate and preserve Islam’s rich manuscript heritage while making it accessible to researchers, students and visitors from around the world.

Looking to the future: Preserving the Quranic legacy

The display of the Blue Quran in Mecca carries cultural and spiritual resonance. This manuscript is not only a testament to artistic craftsmanship, but also symbolizes the continuation of reverence for the Quran from the first centuries of Islam to the present day. Visitors and scholars alike have the opportunity to consider how Muslims have engaged with the Qur’an throughout the ages, not only maintaining the integrity of its text but also celebrating the beauty of its visual presentation. For many Muslims, encountering such a manuscript in the heart of the Islamic world strengthens the connection between faith, history and artistic expression, deepens appreciation of the Quran’s legacy, and preserves it as a spiritual and cultural treasure. As the Museum of the Quran continues to expand its exhibitions and educational programs, the addition of the rare blue Quran folio marks a milestone in making the history of Islamic manuscripts accessible and meaningful to diverse audiences.Future exhibitions may include additional rare folios, interactive explorations of manuscript production, and collaborations with global institutions to bring treasures from international collections to Mecca in rotation, further enriching the narrative of Islamic art and religious history. By launching such activities in the Al-Hira Cultural District, a place closely linked to the origins of the revelation of the Qur’an, Saudi Arabia is creating a unique cultural space where visitors can explore not only artifacts but also the enduring story of the Qur’an’s preservation, interpretation and artistic legacy. The public display of a rare blue Quran at the Holy Quran Museum in Mecca is a historic event that connects early Islamic art, scholarly heritage and contemporary cultural engagement. The federation is running its own league, the Professional Wrestling League (PWL). They are recognized by national federations and global sports body UWW. But our league is a global event and India has a huge influence. If the WFI wants to view our league from a competitive perspective, or as a direct challenge to the PWL… then so be it. Our alliance provides professional-level recognition and financial security. Let Brij Bhushan or Sanjay Singh (current president of WFI) think whatever they want,” he added. A senior WFI official told TOI that the federation is aware of the development and will soon issue directives to the country’s wrestlers, who have joined the WFI and become part of the national body, to avoid dealing with “unsanctioned and illegal” federations. “We will take appropriate action when the time comes. First, the league will begin with men’s and women’s freestyle events, with Greco-Roman events added later. The men’s competition events are 57kg, 65kg, 74kg, 86kg, 97kg and 125kg. Women’s athletes will compete in the 50kg, 53kg, 57kg, 62kg, 68kg and 76kg categories. There are eight international teams. US-based Orka Sports is the main stakeholder. New Delhi: The Union home ministry has issued an order requiring all six stanzas of the national anthemvan der matalan” — including the last four songs abandoned by the Jawaharlal-led Nehru government, purportedly to preserve the song’s “secular” appeal — should be sung at all official events and other occasions. The order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on February 6, 2026, provides for the “official version” of the song – encompassing all six verses of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s original composition. The order stipulates that the duration of the song to be played or sung shall be 3 minutes and 10 seconds, and also stipulates the occasions on which “Vande Mataram” shall be sung or performed and the protocols to be followed in commemoration of the national anthem.MHA’s directive for ‘Vande Mataram’ coincides with the celebration of the song’s 150th anniversary. When the national anthem is played, all spectators present must stand at attention. In marching training, there are seven steps before the national anthem begins. In its directive on singing of ‘Vande Mataram’, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the song will be sung at all cultural events and occasions where the national flag is hoisted. Apart from official state functions, the song can also be sung by the President of India upon arrival and departure at government and public functions. The Ministry of Interior has directed that all six verses of the national anthem must be sung at such events, according to the official version.Informal events attended by ministers may also witness collective singing of the song.As per MHA guidelines, morning assemblies in all schools must include collective singing of the national anthem.

“We’re going to see the largest refund cycle in the history of the United States, and people are going to get a lot of refund checks,” National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett said in an interview with Fox Business Channel, adding that the numbers were “shocking.”

Which states will benefit?

people located in the following states LouisianaMississippi and Texas may benefit from a court ruling. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled in February that the Tax Court’s decision in Sirius Solutions, LLLP v. Commissioner will be vacated.

As a result, Americans living in these three states will not be subject to self-employment tax on their tax returns this year. This will only be the case if they are true limited partners under the law.

Limited partners are the owners operating in a limited liability partnership (LLP). The individuals listed above benefit from protection from personal liability arising from corporate obligations, debts, misconduct or negligence. LLP partners manage the day-to-day operations of the business while also protecting personal assets from business-related lawsuits or lawsuits that may affect other partners.

This practice is common among medical, accounting, and law firms. An individual’s risk is limited to the amount of their investment in the company. Limited liability partnerships also do not pay federal income taxes. Profits are passed to the partners, who report the profits on their individual returns via Schedule K-1. While these partners were earlier also required to pay self-employment tax, a February court ruling eliminated the tax liability of limited partners in the three states.

Saudi schools just did the unthinkable: Video games are now part of the Saudi education curriculum
Saudi Arabia integrates gaming into school curriculum: digital education revolution (representative image)

In a bold and unprecedented move, Saudi ArabiaThe Ministry of Education has officially approved the inclusion of video games, both competitive and educational, in school curricula at all levels of education. This landmark initiative aims to connect traditional education with 21st century digital skills, creativity and the rapidly growing gaming industry, reflecting the growing global recognition of video games as valuable tools for learning and future careers.

What’s happening: Combining gaming and education in Saudi Arabia School

The decision comes after the Ministry of Education, the National Education Development Institute and the Education Services Development Corporation signed three strategic memorandums of understanding with state-owned gaming company Savvy Games Group, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund. The agreements formalize the inclusion of video games in the curriculum, the development of national gaming competitions and training pathways for local talent in the gaming industry.Al-Marsad newspaper reported that the partnership will include working with the National Curriculum Center to embed gaming-related skills and knowledge into school content, as well as taking steps to upskill educators, create educational games and support national innovation challenges related to the gaming industry. This is one of the most significant education policy shifts in the Middle East in recent years, not just because games are fun but also because they teach transferable and future-proof skills. According to international research and global education reviews, competitive video gaming and esports programs in schools can develop collaboration, strategic thinking, problem solving, communication and leadership, which are skills that employers increasingly value. For example, schools in Wales and the United States that have implemented esports suites and gaming programs have noted positive impacts on student engagement, teamwork and pathways into tech-related careers. Just as a structured arts or athletics program can support growth, game education, if designed properly, can be both academic and practical.

Saudi Arabia taps into global trend of classroom games

Saudi Arabia’s move is in line with global experiments around gaming as an educational tool. In Japan, some schools have incorporated video games into classroom learning to help students develop critical thinking and communication skills, with high participation rates among graduates and high college admission rates.

Students, upgrade! Saudi Arabia adds video games to school curriculum

Likewise, academic discussions, including research on game-based learning courses such as Quest To Learn in the US, highlight how games can enhance systems thinking and engagement, supporting traditional subjects such as maths, science and languages through interactive design and strategic challenges. Saudi officials position the gaming curriculum program as part of a drive to further digital transformation, innovation and job creation in future industries. The Kingdom’s gaming industry has already demonstrated strength, with millions of players and billions of dollars in annual revenue, demonstrating strong interest and economic potential. By formalizing gaming education, authorities aim to prepare students for careers across fields game Development, design, esports management, digital media, cybersecurity and related technology fields. These areas are expected to grow alongside Saudi Arabia’s broader economic diversification goals.

What will be covered in gaming courses in Saudi Arabia

While official details about the exact curriculum framework are still emerging, the memo outlines several key components:

  • Use video games to integrate gaming concepts into formal curriculum to illustrate digital literacy, computer science fundamentals, teamwork, and creative expression.
  • The national-level competition aims to develop talent and highlight student achievements in game design and esports performance.
  • Professional pathways include training and qualification programs aligned with career pathways such as the Saudi Scholarship and the Khadem Al-Haramein Scholarship and Wa’ed, which support future game designers and developers.

The plan is also expected to include the establishment of gaming labs and innovation centers within technical and vocational institutions to provide practical experience and industry projects. Global education voices, including research platform contributors and world economic forumexplores how esports and gaming courses can teach teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, especially when embedded in supportive academic structures. These programs often serve a dual purpose: they increase student engagement (especially those learners who struggle with traditional teaching methods) and create career paths in technology, digital arts, programming, and business.

Next steps for Saudi Arabia’s gaming curriculum: implementation and expansion

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Education is currently in the rollout phase, working with curriculum developers, industry partners and training institutions to finalize content, teacher preparation and infrastructure. Early focus is likely to be on pilot programmes, teacher upskilling and integration phases to ensure that the curriculum complements rather than replaces existing subject objectives.

Over time, the success of this gaming integration may attract the attention of other countries in the region that are exploring innovative education models to respond to rapidly evolving labor markets and the rise of the global digital economy. With video games officially included in the Saudi school curriculum, the Kingdom is at the forefront of a global shift towards gaming as a tool for learning, creativity and preparation for future careers. While challenges remain, including ensuring balanced screen time and aligning gaming with core academic standards, the move signals a bold rethinking of how education evolves to reflect the digital aspirations of a new generation of learners.

Ensure representation of marginalized groups on MPs' legal teams: SC

NEW DELHI: Taking note of observations that no advocate from the Scheduled Tribes has been appointed as a government lawyer in the Madhya Pradesh high court and representation of scheduled castes and OBCs is also very low, the Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the state’s attorney general to ensure representation of marginalized communities and women.“How can they show up if they are not given a chance?” a bench comprising Justices MM Sundresh and N Kotiswar Singh said while hearing a petition seeking reservation from advocates of the OBC community in the appointment of government pleaders in Parliament. The court said that while the stay order could not be passed, the issue should be brought to the attention of the state attorney general for remedial action.Advocate Varun Thakur, appearing for the petitioner, said that since Independence, not a single ST lawyer has been selected as a government lawyer and only a token number of SC candidates have been appointed. Among more than 100 appointed lawyers, there is only one female lawyer. He said the lack of such representation in the attorney general’s office had long-term consequences for the legal profession, as government legal officers were often considered for promotion to judges.“The people we represent are not represented,” Thakur said.Lawyers appearing for the state assured the judge that those concerns would be communicated to the attorney general.
